Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern the use of the application Edible Lens ("the app"). By using the app you fully accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

1. Service description

Edible Lens is an educational and informational app that lets you identify wild plants and mushrooms through photography and consult botanical and mycological fact sheets. The app does not provide botanical, food, medical or professional advice.

2. Age requirements

To use Edible Lens you must be at least 16 years old. By using the app you declare that you meet this requirement.

3. Account

Some features require creating an account. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity carried out through your account. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile section of the app.

4. No guarantee of correct identification

Identification from photos is based on automated technologies and may be inaccurate, incomplete or wrong. Edible Lens does not guarantee the accuracy of results. The app must never be used as the sole source for consuming, foraging or handling wild plants or mushrooms.

5. Safety and user responsibility

Many wild plants and mushrooms are toxic or deadly, and some edible species have dangerous lookalikes. Every decision made on the basis of the app's information remains your sole responsibility. Before consuming or handling any wild species it is essential to consult a qualified expert. Never consume a plant or mushroom based solely on the app.

6. Permitted use

You undertake to use the app in compliance with the law and not to: use it for unlawful purposes; attempt to compromise its security or operation; make automated or massive use of the service; upload illegal content or content that infringes the rights of others.

7. Premium subscriptions

Edible Lens offers Premium features through an auto-renewing subscription. The available plans and their prices are shown in the app before each purchase.

• Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account upon confirmation of the purchase.
• The subscription renews automatically at expiry, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time from your App Store or Google Play account settings.
• Payment and renewal management is handled by the stores (Apple and Google), not by Edible Lens.

8. Free plan and advertising

The free plan allows a limited number of daily identifications and includes ads. The use of some free features may require watching ads. Premium users do not see ads.

9. Intellectual property

The app, its design, trademarks and original content are owned by the owner of Edible Lens and are protected by applicable laws. They may not be copied, distributed or used without authorisation.

10. Third-party content

Some reference images and information about species come from external sources such as Wikimedia Commons / Wikipedia and iNaturalist, provided by their respective authors under the relevant licences. Such content remains subject to the terms of the respective platforms.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Edible Lens and its owner are not liable for direct or indirect damages arising from the use of the app, including — by way of example — harm to health resulting from the foraging, handling or consumption of wild plants or mushrooms. The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind.

12. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms over time. Changes will be published on this page with the relevant update date. Continued use of the app after the changes constitutes acceptance.

13. Applicable law

These Terms are governed by the law of the country in which the owner of the app is based. In any case, if you are a consumer, the mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of residence continue to apply and cannot be denied to you by these Terms.
